This month we will be featuring drinks made with vodka.  The most popular vodka cocktail is the Bloody Mary, a mixture of tomato juice, vodka and a variety of spices.  It has been called the world’s most complex cocktail with many different versions.  Here are just a few.

Carly’s Bloody Mary

Here’s a classic Bloody Mary recipe that is a favorite of Prairie Village team member Carly Jones.

  • 20 ounces tomato juice
  • 6 ounces Tito’s Vodka
  • 2 dashes Tabasco
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • Pinch celery salt
  • Pinch black pepper
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Ice
  • Bloody Buddyz for garnish

 Combine all ingredients in a small pitcher; pour into 2 large glasses filled with ice and garnish with Bloody Buddyz.

Sizzling Caesar

Here’s is a Bloody Mary recipe for those that like a

little kick in their cocktail.  All ingredients can

be adjusted to individual taste.

  • 3 oz Clam juice

  •  3 oz Tomato Juice
  •  2 oz. Tito’s Vodka
  •  1 Pinch pepper
  •  1 Pinch salt
  • Splash green pepper tabasco
  • Splash horseradish
  • Splash hot pepper sauce
  • Splash lemon juice
  • Splash lime juice
  • Splash Tabasco sauce

Mixing instructions:
Rim highball glass with lime juice and  salt. Fill the glass with ice and add all the ingredients.

Garnish with a cucumber spear, lemon wedge and cherry tomato.

Demitri’s® Bloody Mary

  • 1-2 teaspoons of Demitri’s® All Natural Bloody
  • 6-8 oz. tomato juice, V8, or Clamato
  • 1-2 oz Tito’s Vodka
  • Ice
  • Good-sized lime wedge
  • Celery sticks or pickled beans or asparagus or a tasty prawn or all of the above!

Combine Demitri’s Bloody Mary Seasonings with tomato juice, vodka and ice in a shaker-can and shake. Pour the mixture into the glass and garnish with celery, asparagus, bean, bacon or pepperoni or all of the above!! Squeeze the lime wedge onto the top of the drink and serve.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka

Tito’s Handmade Vodka is produced in Austin at Texas’ first and oldest legal distillery. It’s made in small batches in an old fashioned pot still

by owner Tito Beveridge (yes, that is his actual name), and distilled six times.

Tito’s Passion

  • 1.5  Tito’s Vodka
  • 1oz Grand Marnier
  • 1oz fresh sour
  • 1.5 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1.5 oz cranberry

Shake into a cocktail glass and add a lemon spiral.

Cola de Lagarto

Cola de Lagarto means “tail of the lizard,” a reference to the green color that the creme de menthe adds to the drink.  Wine cocktails have been unfairly associated with overly sweet wine cooler.  But the renewed interest in classic cocktails has brought this category back into favor.  The ingredients in this recipe may seem a bit strange, but they actually go together nicely.

To make the Cola de Lagarto, combine 3/4 cup white wine, 1/3 cup vodka, one tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice and one teaspoon white sugar or one teaspoon simple syrup in a shaker and shake well. Strain the drink into a tall, chilled glass and garnish with a mint sprig.
