Bellinis and Mimosas

Spring has finally arrived and one of the early harbingers of Spring is Mother’s Day.  Show your thanks and appreciation to the special women in your life with a delicious and refreshing sparkling wine cocktail.  Bellinis and mimosas are the most popular sparkling wine cocktails, making them a popular part of brunches and other warm weather gatherings.  Featuring tasty fruits and refreshing sparkling wines, these cocktails are both fun and creative, allowing many variations and experimentation with fresh and seasonal ingredients.

 

Perfect Bellini

  • 1 T Peach Puree (see below)
  • 1 T Stirrings Peach Liqueur
  • 3 dashes Fee Brothers Orange or Rhubarb Bitters

Fill flute with sparkling wine slowly and gently.

The extra ingredients create a lot of fizz, so be patient.

Mix gently to incorporate and enjoy.

Makes one flute.

 

 

Peach Bellini Martini

Peaches have been proven to create a relaxing effect.

Relax with this calming cocktail.

  • 2 oz peach vodka
  • 1 oz Peach Puree
  • 1 oz Stirrings Peach Liqueur
  • Splash of sparkling wine

Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker.  Shake, strain, and pour into a chilled champagne flute.  Add a splash of sparkling wine and garnish with a fresh peach slice.

 

Peach Puree

In the bowl of a blender or food processor, process about 8 oz frozen peaches until smooth (about 2 minutes).  Add a splash of Peach Liqueur if needed to get the right consistency.  Makes enough for about eight flutes (one 750ml bottles worth of sparkling wine).

Mother’s Day Mimosa

  • 2 T chilled orange juice
  • 3 dashes Fee Brother’s Orange or Rhubarb Bitters

Fill slowly and gently with chilled sparkling wine.  Garnish with strawberry and/or orange wheel.

 

 

Classic Champagne Cocktail

This classic drink dates back to at least the mid-19th century.  Personalize with different flavored bitters.  The sugar cube melts slowly, balancing out the bitters.

Soak a sugar cube in bitters, drop it into a flute, fill the flute with Champagne and garnish with a twist of lemon.

 

Peach Fizz

Simple yet delicious.

  • 1-1/2oz Stirrings Peach Liqueur
  • 2oz Sparkling Wine

Pour into flute and garnish with seasonal fruit.

 

 

Grapefruit Mimosas

Fresh Grapefruit Mimosa Recipe

This Mimosa offers a soft pink hue and pulpy goodness that finds its way to the top of your glass.  For an extraspecial morning brunch or occasion, mix together a pitcher of these.

  • 8 large ruby red grapefruits
  • 1 bottle of sparkling wine, chilled

Juice the grapefruits and pour into a large pitcher.

Top with one-third to half the bottle of prosecco and save the rest for later.

Drink up.

Serves four to six.
