Hopefully Spring is right around the corner! I know I’m ready for it!! This week’s recipe is an all time favorite of mine. I’m not a big fan of cherries, but I love this recipe. Easy to make and most ingredients you will have on hand. I have not tried blueberry or peach pie filling in this recipe but I’m sure it would be just as delicious. Enjoy! – Ann Pontow
Cherry Crumb Bars
- 1 box White or yellow cake mix
- 1 ¼ cups oatmeal
- ½ cup butter – room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven 350 degree’s
Grease & flour 9 x 13 pan
Combine cake mix, 6 Tablespoons butter, and 1 cup oatmeal. Mix with a spoon or you can use your hands. Reserve 1 cup of mixture. To remaining mixture add egg, mix well. Press into pan. Pour cherry filling over crust. In large bowl add 1 cup crumb mixture, ¼ cup oats, 2 T butter, nuts & brown sugar. Mix well. Sprinkle over Cherries.
Bake 30-40 minutes. Cool & cut into bars.
