Many of our Rimann Liquors “friends & family” have sampled over the years the sweet delights that Mary Rimann makes during the month of December.  How wonderful they are!  Because of COVID, we
missed out this past December.  So, I thought this recipe, Blonde Brownies would be a good one to feature. It is one of her mother’s recipes.  I’m sure they are wonderful.  These brownies look like they are

easy to make (I have not tried them yet) and would be a nice dessert for Easter Sunday.   Happy Easter to All!!

Blonde Brownies (Mary Rimann’s Mother’s Recipe)

  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

Combine sifted flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt; sift again. Add to mixture nuts. Melt shortening in microwave. When melted mix in brown sugar and let cool. Stir in egg and vanilla. When mixed add in flour mixture and chocolate chips gradually. Spread in a greased pan at 350 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes.
